Students gathered at the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln campus on June 15, 2010 for the 16th Annual Masonic
All-Star Marching Band Camp. The camp brought together 255 of the
best-of-the-best band students in Nebraska for five days of intense musical
and marching practice. The band played at the Shrine Bowl banquet Friday,
July 24th, led the Shrine Bowl Parade down Havelock Avenue and was the
feature half-time performance for the Shrine Bowl Game at Memorial Stadium
on Saturday, June 19th. Students who attended the camp were sponsored by
Nebraska Blue Lodges, Eastern Star Chapters, Shrine clubs, Scottish Rite and
York Rite bodies, individuals and companies. The camp was created in 1995 by
then Grand Master Jerry L. Rittenburg to provide lodges and other Masonic
bodies with a way to foster community involvement. The Masonic All-Star
Marching Band Camp lives on as his legacy, providing excellent experiences
for Nebraska youth, while assisting in the mission of the Shrine Bowl -
"Strong Legs Run, that Weak Legs May Walk."
